In the coming years. Artificial Intelligence (AI) will bring about transformative change to most, if not every aspect of humanity, presenting a range of challenges and opportunities. The federal government plays two critical roles with respect to AI: regulator and practitioner. As a regulator, it’s important that the government puts forth guidance and boundaries on what it means to use AI in a responsible manner, and aligns to our nation’s values. As a practitioner, the government should apply this transformative technology to enhance and support the many ways it serves the people of this country. In doing so, the federal government must keep the users in mind when deploying AI systems as they are a critical component.

But there are challenges in AI that include: building out the skills of the government workforce to be AI and data science ready, investing in technical infrastructure, and making sure its wealth of data is also ready to be used in an AI context. The government must face these challenges and opportunities head on to stay on the leading edge, sustain a competitive advantage on the global stage, and ensure the long-term prosperity of the United States. Part of doing so includes investing in, and applying AI, to solve government challenges, whether directly or indirectly impacting the public.

Hosted by GSA’s Technology Transformation Services (TTS), this seventh event of the Impact Summit Series is on November 19, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., ET. We’ll share how agencies are solving their problems and challenges through the application of AI. In this webinar, you’ll learn how the government is tackling these challenges and taking advantage of what AI systems have to offer.
